When the engine is idling (after a standstill of +12 hours), there is a burst of air every 60 seconds or so. The pipe is nearly filled by large bubbles for a couple of seconds. The engine idles w/o any signs of disturbance and - most astonishingly - there are no bubbles in the fuel return line from the fuel pump.
